meantime I had a quick trawl through the maxi situation. I'm not that keen on showing my lily-white legs so often buy maxi dresses and skirts which means I can still feel summery but without the 'snow blindness' effect on the general population..

a high-street version which is affordable to most - great colour and pleat effect would look great with gladiators or flip flops.. also comes in black/purple-royal blue
a really good selection if you scan the web or high street - its also worth trawling the charity shops for much of the same, people may have discarded their maxi-wear from previous years so you may well pick up a bargain for under a fiver.
