spotlight on...

Reading my blog you will come to learn that one of my style icons is Audrey Hepburn.

Her simple yet classic style I find endlessly beautiful.

The effortlessness of her style is what draws me back to reading and collecting books and photographs of her.  The classic style of capri pants, top and pumps with streamlined make up and a pixie crop is something I have tried to copy throughout the years.

What you notice about the make up was its simplicity, which never overshadowed her delicate features.  Heavy brows framed  her eyes but using simple liner and mascara it works.  Her incredible cheekbones were accentuated by the understated  styling of the crop. Lips were striking but again not in an overpowering way.

She became Givenchy's muse after they met on the set of 'Sabrina' it became a lifelong friendship and he even designed a perfume for Audrey as a surprise - L`Interdit.   After this meeting on set he continued to design for her personally and professionally. Her own 'understated' style was of course a contrast to some of the glamorous roles she played in 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' and
'My Fair Lady'.

However what remains beneath the stylish clothing was Audrey.

The classic simplicity of Audrey's style is, I feel, what sums her up. She was such a unique actress, woman and mother which was also echoed in her tireless charity work for UNICEF which she continued right up to her death in 1993.
